We are very excited to announce that the first recipient of a free bedroom makeover by the Brighter Days Foundation has been selected!
Six-year-old Charlee submitted her application along with the required references and we were so impressed! It appears that Charlee has a very strong support system of family and friends. This little girl is such a delight!
Charlee has shared with us that she wants to be a doctor when she grows up because she wants to help people.
Each recipient of a free bedroom makeover must submit three letters of reference by people who are a part of their support system.

“Since she could talk, Charlee has said to me she wants to help people. This trait shines in her personality and her desire to please people. She is a great big sister. Watching her “parent” her lil’ sis is so much fun. Charlee’s patience astounds me. She puts so much effort into explaining tasks and why she is doing stuff a certain way, as well as her schoolwork and is always excited to show me her creations over FaceTime. I quite often hear from others about how mature Charlee is and how she is so great with helping other kids in school, sports, and in her own neighbourhood.
Seeing the qualities of determination, compassion, selflessness and humanity shine through this 6yr old, leaves me with no doubt she will achieve great things. “Charlee is a very social child who is very empathetic towards her peers. When a younger child would enter the room, Charlee would help the child change their shoes and guide them through their morning routines. Charlee was a known “helper” in the room, the children would gravitate to her when they needed assistance. She also enjoyed helping the educators with tasks such as setting out the beds for nap time, helping to set up activities, and cleaning up the room.”

“Her determination to learn and master skills started at a young age. I saw her, as a 3-year-old, learn to ride her bike on 2 wheels, after seeing some of the neighbourhood kids doing the same. At such a young age, but full of determination and the belief that she could do it, in a matter of weeks had mastered the bicycle on 2 wheels.
I have been her ringette coach. She worked so hard on her skating and ring control that at an age that would be considered the earliest age to play ringette, she was able to move up and play with the more advanced group of girls, some of who were 3 years older.”
